Though we wish we could provide low-cost technology to everyone, we focus our efforts on  internet solutions and computer access for individuals who need it most.

To place an order with us, customers must be currently participating in a government-based assistance program or have a qualifying household income (less than 200% of federal poverty guidelines (see chart below) or 60% of area median income). Before completing your order, PCs for People requires photo identification and income documentation to ensure that customers meet our eligibility criteria.

To place an order, you'll need:

Documentation of current enrollment in an income-based government assistance program OR documentation of current household income (under 200% of the federal poverty level or 60% of area median income)

Please note, we do not require proof of citizenship.

Company or Work-Issued Identification

2. Documentation of Income

Acceptable documents for income eligibility fall into two categories: qualifying income-based assistance programs OR qualifying income documentation. 

Qualifying Income-Based Assistance Programs

Your documentation must include your full name and be dated within the last 12 months and/or show current coverage or proof of benefits at the date of submission. 

Handwritten documents cannot be accepted.

  • Adult & Child Mental Health Case Management
  • Employment Services (only if income-based in your state)
  • Extended Foster Care
  • Food Support (e.g. WIC, SNAP) (a dated letter showing current eligibility is required)
  • Financial Assistance, such as GA, TANF, etc. (a dated letter showing current eligibility is required)
  • Head Start
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Medicaid or Medical Assistance (bring a document that says “MA” or “Medical Assistance” on it)
  • The National School Lunch Program’s Free or Reduced Lunch Program
  • Section 8, Federal Public Housing Assistance, or Group Residential Housing (GRH)
  • Section 42, Low Income Housing Tax Credit unit or other HUD low income program
  • Social Security Disability (SSD)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Pell Grant

Note: If providing income-based eligibility documentation related to a child, we can accept a free or reduced lunch letter or Medicaid. The last name or address must match the photo ID provided for the customer.

Qualifying Income Documentation

For households that qualify with 200% federal poverty level (FPL) or 60% area median income (AMI), please submit one of the documents below as documentation of income. Annual benefits must meet the FPL/AMI guidelines.

  • The prior year’s state, federal, or tribal tax return (W2 forms or pay stubs are not acceptable)
  • A Social Security statement of benefits 
  • A Veteran Administration statement of benefits (VA cards alone are not accepted)
  • A retirement/pension statement of benefits 
  • An Unemployment/Workmen’s Compensation statement of benefits 
  • Federal or tribal notice letter of participation in General Assistance

The area median income (AMI) guidelines are determined by region and change annually.

Any documentation of eligibility is subject to approval by PCs for People staff. Additional documents may be required to unquestioningly prove income or enrollment in a government assistance program. Handwritten documents cannot be accepted.
