Since July 2020, PCs for People Maryland has been working to close the digital divide by providing technology, internet access, digital skills training, and tech support for the tens of thousands of households left on the wrong side of the digital divide — while at the same time, empowering businesses and organizations to make a positive community and environmental impact.
In our first year, we distributed more than 4,000 computers and connected more than 3,000 people with internet service: delivering crucial technology resources to those most in need. Located in Baltimore, a city where more than 30% of households do not have access to an internet-connected computer which deprives them of educational opportunities, social connection, and job advancement, we are making important steps towards closing the vast digital divide.
Desktop Computers: Linux desktops start at $0, Windows desktops start at $30
Laptop Computers: Windows laptops start at $50
Internet: $60 for the device, $15 per month for service (or free service through the Affordable Connectivity Program)
