Let's Get Chicago Connected!

We have partnered with the City of Chicago and World Business Chicago to bridge the digital divide for the 260,000 Chicago households who don’t currently own a computer.

Your retired devices from today can power someone’s future tomorrow!

Our Process

Your devices are picked up using our convenient, no-cost corporate e-waste pickup services.
We take inventory, remove all assets tags and drives, securely destroy all data according to NAID AAA policies.
Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher
We assess computers for recycling or refurbishment. Any suitable devices are refurbished through our Microsoft-authorized processes.
Any computers that cannot be refurbished are sustainably recycled according to R2 standards for zero-landfill.
Our high-quality refurbished computers are distributed to individuals, families, and nonprofits with low income to help achieve digital equity.

Why recycle with PCs for People?

When you recycle your electronics with PCs for People, you’ll join thousands of other organizations across the country who put their retired technology to good use. Your devices will be assessed and then recycled (zero-landfill) or refurbished and provided to families, individuals, or nonprofits in need.

  • We are the only nonprofit Microsoft-authorized refurbisher in the country, meaning our computers come with the user-friendly Windows operating systems people need to succeed.
  • Anyone who meets our guidelines for low income (200% federal poverty level or 60% area median income) can receive a computer from us. That means students, job-seekers, veterans, seniors, and everyone in between!
  • We offer no-cost white-glove pickup services for any business with 15 or more usable devices to recycle.
  • We provide data sanitization for every device using Department of Defense, HIPAA, and NIST 800-88 compliant software. A certificate of data sanitization is available upon request.

We are here to make it easier for you to make a difference.

We accept functioning and non-functioning IT-related electronics.

  • Laptops, tablets, desktop PCs, and monitors have the most community benefit.
  • We also accept cables & accessories, circuit boards/cards, mice, hard drives, keyboards, and more.
