PCs for People Connects to Illinois with New Partnerships and Executive Director

PCs for People was recently awarded a $1.45 million grant from the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund to launch a multi-pronged digital inclusion, workforce development, and community equity initiative in the Greater East St. Louis or Metro East area of

southern/southwestern Illinois.

PCs for People Metro East is launching in partnership with several local organizations: the Illinois Office of Broadband has committed to facilitate the donation of 10,000 computers, the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois is supporting additional sourcing efforts, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is assisting with training and workforce development, and the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois are supporting distribution through events in 41 counties.

What’s Next?

First steps for PCs for People in Metro East include securing a warehouse and retail space, planning an initial distribution event for October 23rd, and training in the new Executive Director.

PCs for People Welcomes Jaison K.D. McCall

We are excited to announce Jaison K.D. McCall will be joining PCs for People on Monday, October 12, in the role of Executive Director reporting to Casey Sorensen. In this role, Jaison will be responsible for providing organizational and operational leadership while leading PCs for People’s new Metro East Illinois market. Jaison joins us with extensive previous experience in non-profit leadership, education, growing and developing partnerships, and a passion for serving others. Additionally, Jaison earned a doctorate degree with special emphasis on leadership.

Prior to PCs for People, Jaison was the Managing Director of the Community Impact Network in St. Louis, MO. He successfully developed and executed company strategies, managed staff dedicated to serving the community, and worked collaboratively with a local school district in helping them secure laptops and hotspots for students and families. Jaison is excited for the expansion of PCs for People as he is a witness to the need of digital inclusion in the Metro East Illinois communities.
