In Cleveland, access to technology continues to grow thanks to PCs for People and our local partners. Last week, we hosted two community distribution events designed to put affordable devices directly into the hands of residents.
Supporting Adult Learners with Seeds of Literacy
On Wednesday, we partnered with Seeds of Literacy, a nonprofit that provides free basic education and GED/HiSET preparation for adults across the Cleveland area. By bringing low-cost laptops directly to their learning community, we helped support students who rely on technology for studying, job searches, online classes, and career advancement.
Expanding Access with CMSD’s Multilingual Multicultural Education Office
On Thursday, we joined the Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Multilingual Multicultural Education Office during parent-teacher conference night. This event allowed us to connect with families from a wide range of backgrounds—many of whom purchased multiple devices to meet the needs of their entire household.
Making an Impact in Cleveland’s Lower West Side
Across both events, PCs for People reached nearly 35 new families and sold about 35 refurbished laptops, generating over $2,000 in affordable technology sales. More importantly, these events helped bring essential devices directly into some of the Lower West Side’s most underserved neighborhoods, strengthening our ongoing efforts to close the digital divide in Northeast Ohio.
More Community Distributions Coming in December
We’re excited to continue this momentum. PCs for People will be hosting additional community computer distribution events in December, ensuring even more Cleveland families have access to the devices they need for work, school, and everyday life.
Together with our community partners, we’re proud to keep expanding digital equity and connecting Cleveland—one device at a time.
