On Friday, July 9th and Saturday, July 10th we partnered with Pawn America to host a free recycling event in Rochester, MN. The event drew almost 250 cars donating more than 10 tons of computer equipment. In the Spring of 2010, the US Department of Commerce announced that the Blandin Foundation and nineteen coalition partners received a $4.7 million federal Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant award on behalf of rural Minnesota communities. As small but important part of this grant, PCs for People has been awarded a contract to distribute 1,000 computers to low income families in the state of Minnesota.
