Computer Giveaway in Duluth

PCs for People partnered with The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland, Community Action Duluth, and Duluth Head Start to distribute over 100 computers to low-income families in the Duluth area. The Blandin on Broadband blog highlighted recent work between our Willmar office and a Somali Woman Center in Willmar, MN. Refurbished computers have been given to the center to help recent arrivals from Somalia gain access to a computer lab with broadband internet. PCs for People has also been able to provide home computers to some of the families that use the center for legal advice, English lessons, and medical support. Read the full article.

PCs for People collected 150 computers from a donation drive on April 9 in Duluth. The donation drive was held in conjunction with the Midwest Instruction and Computing Symposium and hosted by the College of St. Scholatica. Several Duluth-area businesses and residents made donations. The local Fox TV station had this to say about it.

2011 Busiest Year Yet

The first quarter of 2011 has been busy. In the first three months of the year we have given out 809 computers! In February, the St Paul office set a monthly record of 214 computer systems distributed to walk-in clients. We have been so busy that we are having difficulty finding enough donated computers and monitors to give out. If you or your employer has old computer equipment, please consider donating it.
