2019 Impact

As we close our fiscal year we look back at our community impact. 2019 was an incredible year for PCs for People, so we wanted to take this time to celebrate our work and impact with you, the ones that made it happen.

A quick look at the numbers shows that we’ve helped more people and changed more lives than ever before.  In 2019, PCs for People…

Served 115,500 individuals
Distributed 22,633 computers
Connected 29,514 online users
Recycled 1.8 million pounds of e-waste

9 out of 10 customers reported cost as the number one barrier to technology. That’s why the work we do is so important, and we’re able to do all of it thanks to our employees, donors, sponsors, and volunteers who make it possible to distribute computers at affordable prices to the people who need them the most.

We know that digital inclusion reaches across everything from education to healthcare to the prison systems, and so does our impact. The stories we hear on a day-to-day basis are endless.Kiesha from Texas, for example, used a computer to complete her job training as a caregiver and can now support herself and her mother. Thomas from Minnesota started a blog to overcome the isolation caused by his disability. Darius from Ohio recovered from a severe stroke by digitally communicating with his doctors. And these are just to name a few.

Our recipients are not the only beneficiaries of our work. PCs for People employs 81 people across six locations in three states and provides hundreds of hours of internship opportunities. As we expand into Baltimore and Kansas City, we look forward to creating meaningful jobs, serving local communities while expanding our impact and workforce development efforts.

As we look to the future, we can’t wait to be part of increasing equality especially in the education system during this intense need to be digitally connected. We are grateful for the companies and donors that stepped up to support our mission and hope this trend continues long after COVID-19 is gone.

We did a great job achieving our mission in 2019.  Here’s to another year of changing lives.
