Walnut Way has partnered with PCs for People to help bridge the digital equity gap for Lindsay Heights residents. This effort will transform Walnut Way’s Wellness Commons into a fixed wireless internet hub, bringing residents within a one-mile vicinity high-speed internet access. The current lack of internet access for many families means children aren’t able to attend school virtually and adults aren’t able to seek online employment opportunities. Our partnership will be a multi-phased approach for households to receive low-cost, high-speed internet service in their homes.
Walnut Way Conservation Corp. is a nonprofit organization committed to sustaining an economically diverse community through civic engagement, environmental stewardship, and creating venues for prosperity. Chartered by neighborhood residents in 2000, Walnut Way challenges the cycle of poverty by engaging, educating, and employing community members to take leadership roles in comprehensive revitalization strategies emphasizing wellness, work and wealth.
Fixed wireless is an internet solution offered in rural towns. Using a signal sent from a main access point (The Wellness Commons, in this case) to receivers installed around the community, fixed wireless offers small and underserved areas high-speed internet.
Plans are priced at $15/month with download speeds up to 50mbps and upload speeds up to 10mbps.
Current PCs for People customers with a Sprint hotspot can trade in for credit toward their new modem. Call 216-352-5594 for details.
