Over 100 Laptops and Hotspots Distributed to Atlanta Technical College Students

The newest PCs for People team in Atlanta is getting off to a strong start!PCs for People Atlanta gave computers to students from Atlanta Technical College in late August 2022

In late August, the team welcomed over 100 Pell Grant-eligible students from Atlanta Technical College (ATC) into their Westside Works location to receive free laptops and hotspots as part of the Indeed Essentials to Work program partnership. Students were eager and excited to receive their devices to support college and career readiness.

Robert E. Leach, Dean of Business and Public Service Technologies, played an integral part in securing PCs for People Atlanta’s partnership with ATC. He came by to speak and take photos with students and was happy to see those who were a part of his program. Leach assumed his role as dean in 2019 and has worked steadfastly to ensure the scholars were set up for success.

In addition to receiving computers and hotspots, the students were also able to complete the digital equity survey organized by Westside Works. The goal of this survey is to better understand how organizations in this space can support the community and work to close the digital divide in Atlanta.
