PCs for People and Mobile Beacon are dedicated to bringing technology to underserved communities through distribution events. Each event is carefully planned with the support of local schools, city officials, and other local nonprofits.
PCs for People and Mobile Beacon formed a partnership called Bridging the Gap with a focus on helping community anchor institutions like housing authorities, schools, libraries, and nonprofits gain access to affordable computers and unlimited Educational Broadband Service (EBS) mobile broadband internet.
Through distribution events, Bridging the Gap brings technology into communities and families that may not otherwise have access to a home computer or internet. In 2019 Bridging the Gap distributed 711 computers and 477 mobile internet devices with three-month internet subscriptions free of cost to eligible families in Ohio, Kansas, and Texas schools. Recipients also received a digital training overview and wrap-around support from local computer repair shops and PCs for People's customer service team.
