La Junta, CO, May 08, 2018 — Bridging the Gap, a nonprofit-led initiative of PCs for People and Mobile Beacon that helps community anchor institutions like housing authorities, schools, libraries, and nonprofits provide affordable computers and internet service to individuals and families below the 200% poverty level, is hosting a distribution event to provide technology to hundreds of low-income families in La Junta and Aurora, CO.

Bridging the Gap will host two events in May. The first event will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May, 11th at the La Junta Intermediate School. Bridging the Gap will distribute 170 computers and 85 mobile hotspots with three months of unlimited internet service to selected low-income students and families. Additionally, Bridging the Gap will host another event on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at Village East Elementary in Aurora, CO. Bridging the Gap will distribute 100 computers and 50 mobile hotspots with three months of unlimited internet service to families in that school community.

Mobile Beacon donated the mobile hotspot devices and provided monetary support for the event. Computers distributed were refurbished by PCs for People at their Denver location.

“By distributing computers and mobile hotspots with unlimited 4G LTE internet, Bridging the Gap helps low-income individuals improve their access to jobs, healthcare, education and other opportunities for economic progress,” Julie Seltz, PCs for People Colorado Executive Director said. “We are proud to continue our collaboration with Mobile Beacon to bridge the digital divide and transform lives by providing access to technology.
