Great news! Our internet providers, Mobile Citizen and Mobile Beacon, have succeeded in the injunction against Sprint. Clear’s service will no longer turn off on November 6, 2015. The court has ordered Sprint to keep all active devices working for 90 days, which is until February 4, 2016. Sprint is filing an appeal, however, so we’ll let everyone know if this changes.
So what does this mean for you? This depends on your internet situation, see below:
- If you have Clear, and your device is currently active: Your device will remain on for free for the next 90 days! If it has any problems connecting, call 651-354-2552 or 866-804-8720 to troubleshoot. No devices have been shut off since September 28, 2015, so if yours stopped working after that date, we probably just need to troubleshoot it to get it working again.
- If you had Clear, but your device has been inactive since at least September of 2015: We might be able to turn on your device, but it depends if it was provided to us by Mobile Beacon or Mobile Citizen. Mobile Beacon will still reactivate old devices for $20. Mobile Citizen will no longer allow us to activate old devices. Call us (651-354-2552), email us (email@example.com) or stop in our office and we can easily look up your device to see if it is from Mobile Beacon or Mobile Citizen.
- If you have never had internet from us before AND have a child receiving free lunch at school: We can help you sign up for Comcast Internet Essentials, a $9.95 per month program which includes a free home modem with wifi. See our Internet Information page for more details.
- If you have never had internet from us before and do NOT have a child receiving free lunch at school: We cannot sign you up for internet at this time, but we can refer you to some other low cost programs. See our Internet Information page for more details.
